Leather Book Case for MacBook Pros
I’m suffering roomie withdrawals from SDCC, so I’ve been gravitating towards book-themed goodies (a favorite of my roommate, Rachael’s) over the past couple days. She and I shared many great conversations on books, and I now have a giant list I need to get started on. When I’m not reading, I want to rock my laptop in this book case so I can seem just a bit more intellectual.

8-Bit Sunglasses
While at SDCC, I ran into a guy wearing the coolest 8-bit sunglasses. He bought them on Ebay, because the only ones available new were extremely expensive. ThinkGeek must have overheard us chatting, because now they have awesome and affordable 8-bit sunglasses for us all!
At only $7.99 a pair, I can see some fantastic group photo shoots coming from these. Available at ThinkGeek.com.
Sauceome Comics
I’m sticking with the “Comic Recipes” and “Awesome people I met at SDCC” theme for today. Have you been to Sauceome? (It rhymes with “awesome.”) Sarah Becan updates the blog regularly with cute comics featuring various recipes, food facts, and other whims, and I’m in love. How can you not love a person who ends her About Page with this: “Most minutes I am either thinking about kittens or video games.”
Check out her blog at Sauceome.com.
Contest: Comic Recipe Cards from justJENN Designs!
At SDCC, I got to chat with one of my favorite bloggers, justJENN of justJENN Recipes and justJENN Designs. She makes cute and snarky stationary, comics, buttons and more. I particularly love the Robot Love card and the “I like big bundts” button. When she’s not crafting up new designs, she is blowing everyone away with her geeky recipes. She is a huge inspiration to me!
I was excited to hear about her comic recipe cards that she launched at SDCC. These cards are a cute and clever way to pass on some delicious recipes. This first pack includes 4 cards that will make a complete meal, and Jenn has other sets in the works that can be mixed and matched with the recipes you already have. I picked up a copy of the recipes seen above, and would love to give it away to one of you! (Seriously–you’ll love them.) Just leave a comment with your favorite dish to make, and I’ll randomly pick a winner on Wednesday, July 25th!
Good luck!
EDIT: Congrats to comment #8, Nicole! I’ll be in touch so I can ship you your prize!

Geek Girl Trendsetters at SDCC
I’m back from SDCC, and when I wasn’t having in-depth conversations on comics or dancing with Joss Whedon(!), I was soaking up all of the awesome in panels. This panel was my absolute favorite: 25 ladies showed off their homemade geek-inspired outfits to a panel of geek fashion experts. The panel left me so inspired, I’m already thinking up designs and ideas for my own geeky dresses!
Take a look at the top 6 contestants along with geek fashion advice from the panelists. Want to see more fashion? Pics of every single contestant are over on Facebook.

Stoli Salted Karamel Vodka
Stoli has announced a salted caramel flavored vodka, and I am half skeptical and half excited to try it. The salted caramel trend has clearly reached its peak, and while I think this vodka would be a great accent to brownies, cupcakes, or other baked goods, I can’t imagine drinking it.
Their press release provided a few sample recipes that do sound interesting:
Salted Banana
2 parts Salted Karamel™
1 part Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum
½ part Creme De Banana
Splash of Milk
Shake over ice and strain into martini or shot glass or can be done as a frozen drink
Salted Karamel Macchiato Martini
2 parts Salted Karamel ™
1 part Kahlua or Coffee Brandy
Splash Milk
Shake over ice and strain into Martini glass
Salted Tootsie Roll
2 parts Salted Karamel™
1 part Dark Creme De Cacao
Splash of Orange Juice
Shake over ice and serve as shot or martini
Would you try Salted Karamel vodka? How would you consume it?
