“Epic” Collection from BlackMilk Launches Tonight!

blackmilk epic collection

BlackMilk has more tight and shiny clothes for us, and it’s launching 8pm tonight Pacific! I’m particularly jonesing for the Gameboy-inspired dress (I hear they even have it in hot pink!). I’m just trying to decide if it makes me seem to much like I’m an object to be played instead of a person that plays games. Thoughts?

Will you be grabbing anything from the newest collection?

  1. I also like the Gameboy Dress, but I have the same concerns… At least it’s probably way out of my price range, so I won’t have to deal with it.

  2. Black Milk Clothing does seem rather objectifying, I think in large part due to the owner. He builds a lot of hype around the clothes and asks girls to model the clothing and post it online. Strangely though, most of the pictures he posts himself are all extremely sexual and more often than not have the models face cropped or covered. He also seems to throw BM parties where he encourages the girls to come dressed in their BM clothing and there seem to be few, if any, other men invited from looking at the pictures.

Along with this the owner seems to have an attitude against plus sized women/clothing. The companies official statement for not having larger sizes (even though I believe the basic black IS available one size higher) is that they can’t find fitting models. This seems odd to me considering when I asked about the possibility of larger sizes many women commented that they were able to squeeze themselves into the smaller sizes. Not to mention the national average for women in Australia is only one size down from that of the US.

I digress, I think the biggest thing is that Black Milk has had a history with copyright images and whether or not they actually paid for the rights to use them. I know they managed to work out a deal with Lucasfilm but before that they were given a cease and desist for their Star Wars clothing line. There is some heresay that they continued to sell these clothes in a roundabout manner, but I’m not entirely sure on that one.

As much as the clothing is lovely, I’ll be passing for the foreseeable future.

  3. Huh! Good insight. Thanks for sharing, Suzanna!
