Emerald City Comicon!

Emerald City Comicon is coming up this weekend (March 4th-6th), and I can’t wait!

William Shatner, Felicia Day, Rainn Wilson, Wil Wheaton, and cast members of Fringe and Buffy the Vampire Slayer will be in attendance, plus more. Whether you like comics, movies, pop culture, or fun geeky toys, there’s something for everyone.

Emerald City Comicon is one of the most welcoming, family-friendly, enjoyable cons I’ve ever been to. I can’t wait to return this year!

I also have the pleasure in performing with Unexpected Productions on Friday night at 10:30 for their special NERDprov show. Come on out and show your geek-girl support!

Will you be attending ECCC this year?

Tickets are available at the door, ranging in price from $20 to $45. Children 10 and under are free with paying adult.

Homemade Cadbury Eggs

Mmm...I can feel the sugar coma coming on...

The chocolate boxes are barely cleared from store shelves, and it’s already time to start thinking about Easter candy. For those of you with a crack-like addiction to Cadbury Eggs, this time couldn’t come soon enough.

Well now, you can make your own! (And bonus: with some creative food coloring, those eggs can belong to a dragon or other not-so Eastery creatures!)

Instructables shows you how via slideshow, and it’s a lot easier than you may think.

I’m already coming up with fun ideas on how to incorporate these into D&D games and scavenger hunts…

Geek Etiquette

Show off your Geeky Family

Those stick figure family decals are over-rated. And from an episode of Dexter I saw, can potentially lead to your son being kidnapped. Just saying.

Show other cars that your family’s the best with these geeky family decals:

Show your family's support for the Darkside.
Customize your family with a variety of Mario characters!

Kelly Kreations on Etsy has a variety of fun (and mostly geeky) decals for families. Prices range from $5 to $10.50.

Gift Ideas

Give Her Your Heart and Your Memory

This “MemoRing” will allow you to give someone a cute and useful accessory. I’ve lost so many flash drives, this would be a great way to hang onto them. And this would make the cutest birthday, bridesmaid, or anniversary gift: Give them a ring in their favorite color, filled with their favorite songs and pictures.

2gb Flash Drive: about $36 at gung.jp

Fun Food, Libations

Han Solo in Carbon-ice

Next time it’s your turn to entertain in your monthly Villain’s book club (seriously, can I start one of those?), make sure your lemonades are iced with Han Solo. In carbonite.

These ice molds are available for pre-order for $8.99, and will be in-stock starting July 2011.

They also have a set of R2-D2s available, for the same price. I personally would use these ones for chocolate instead. How much cuter would it be to receive a chocolate RD-D2 in your Easter basket instead of some silly bunny?

Geek Etiquette

Have a Great Frakkin’ Weekend

Wanna get with a fellow geek? Take a cue from this video and use your wittiest, nerdiest lines on them.

It’s about time us geeks get our own club music, right?

(sNSFW if your Boss knows what “Frak” means.)

Fun Food

Cookie Speakeasy

Love the cutesy, warm, gooey charm of a cookie but want to combine it with the mystery of a speakeasy or drug deal? Fat Cookie’s got you covered.

If you’re in San Francisco, look for the building with a string and bag hanging down. Put a dollar on the string, pull it, and they’ll send the bag down with a cookie. Genius.

You can find out when they’re open by following them on Twitter or Facebook. And if any of you live in or near San Francisco, let me know how their cookies are!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I hope it’s “Dino-Mite”! (I know, but I couldn’t resist.)

This cake was given to me by Mr. Geek for V-Day 2010. The randomness is all him. The cake-wrecks-worthy “…on somewhere” is courtesy of Costco.

Weddings

Plan Your Wedding with Google

I’m obsessed with Google and their docs. I use them for EVERYTHING. I’ll make a date with my fiance and send him a Google calendar invite. So I’m pretty excited that Google now has a Wedding section.

You can create a wedding website, keep track of your budget and plans, and edit and share photos with Google. I’m super excited about their All-in-One Planner, which will make it easy for me to have all of my information in one, sharable place. Now if only Google can help us narrow down the vendor choices!
