My absolute favorite piece is this Cinema City Bangle. Wear it and tell everyone that movies are so much better when made on ACTUAL film… $78.00.

Friday Faves July 5

I hope you survived the 4th and got a chance to relax! Here are some of my favorite things from the past week:

Favorite Kickstarter: Jetpack Unicorn
My friends Kristina and Joe teamed up with Wyrd to Kickstart a game based on some “Would You Rather” videos they created together. The prompts and illustrations are hilarious, and I can’t wait to see the full final product. Help them kickstart it now!

Favorite Luxury Item: Big Bang Ring
This white gold and diamond ring is way out of my price range, but a girl can dream about wearing this comic book “Pow” shaped ring, can’t she? If you have an extra $3,700 to spend, check it out here.

Favorite Online Subscription: Amazon Prime
Amazon Prime’s been saving my butt lately with various things we need for Job Hunters shooting, and it’s also my preferred way to shop for everything else. For one annual fee, you get free 2-day shipping on almost anything, plus free movies/tv shows and a free lending library for Kindle owners. I’ve had it for a couple years now, and I can’t imagine not having it. You can sign up for a 30-day free trial at Amazon.com.

Favorite Album: Lasers and Feelings
The Doubleclicks are coming out with a new album this Tuesday! I got to take a peek at it, and it’s positively lovely. If you like geeky things and music, then you need this album. Pre-order the album now!

Happy 4th of July!

fireworkssafety

It’s the 4th of July! I’ll be celebrating with friends, barbecues, my American Flag bikini, and of course, sundae cone cupcakes. What are your plans?

If they include fireworks, make sure you stay safe. Plan on drinking? Plan ahead to prevent a hangover tomorrow!

Have a wonderful, safe day full of friends, family and fun! And get off the computer already and out into the sun!

Are You Going to SDCC?

SDCC

San Diego Comic Con is coming up soon, and I’m in the process of finalizing plans, booking panels/press time, and planning out parties. There are two things I’m currently looking for. If you’re attending comic con or know people who are, spread the word on the two questions below! We may be able to form an awesome partnership or beautiful friendship!

  • Looking for a room? My friend Rachael and I have space for two more ladies in our room. It would be $600 each for a room from Wednesday through Monday morning. We’re fun, low maintenance, are out for most of the day/evening, but aren’t crazy partiers. Join us! Alternatively, if you are an awesome lady who has room for two more in your room, let’s chat, compare prices, and consolidate into one room that saves everyone some money! Contact me for more info
  • Own a business in the gaslight district? I’m throwing around some ideas in my head for a party/event/pop-up shop, and I would love to find a boutique, bar, restaurant, or cupcake shop in the area that would be interested in hosting. It should be a lot of fun and will bring in a great group of people! Interested? Contact me!

Are you going to Comic Con? What are you most excited to see? Anything you want me to make sure I cover?

Friday Faves 6-28

Whew! Job Hunters, Geek and Sundry, launching a makeup line, trying to catch up on sleep…It’s been a roller coaster of a week! Here are some of my favorite new discoveries:

Favorite App: Vine
I’ve only made a couple videos, and they’re all obnoxious, but I’m loving playing around with Vine. More videos to come, I’m sure! (Any Vine users out there that have tried Instagram video? What are your thoughts?)

Favorite Video: Dungeons and Dragons and the Influence of Tabletop RPGs
Apparently some footage of a past D&D sesh made it into this mini documentary by PBS. The documentary’s good, but the footage of me in footie pajamas and a cape playing D&D is priceless.

Other Favorite Video: The Great Gatsby VFX
The Great Gatsby was a good movie, but the visual effects were ASTOUNDING (mostly because you had no clue they were visual effects). Take a look at before and after shots of some of the main scenes and locations. Chills.

Favorite Fashion Item: Iron Man Leggings
Why, yes. That is Robert Downey Junior’s face in your crotch. So bizarre.

Favorite Kickstarter: Atlas Performance Dress Socks
I wrote about Ministry of Supply a year ago when they launched their high-tech dress shirt. They’ve now launched a Kickstarter for a  high-tech/high-performance dress sock, and they’ve already doubled their goal. The socks are built upon things like MIT technology, 3d printing-style knitting machines, and apparently use used coffee grounds to filter odor. You can get 2 pairs for $28. I’m just bummed they don’t come in lady-sizes!

What are your favorite discoveries from the past week?

Geeky Hostess Makeup Collection

GHEspionage8

Today I have something pretty ridiculously awesome to announce. I’ve teamed up with Espionage Cosmetics to curate a Geeky Hostess collection of makeup, available exclusively in the Geeky Hostess store.

I curated the collection to be as versatile as possible. You can stick it in your suitcase or your purse and be set with all of your colors for the day! The colors include:

GHEspionage

Not Today: A pure, matte red (I use it for blush and mix it with lip gloss for a great lip color, you can also see it on my nails in the pics)
Mrs. Reynolds: A soft, sheer, sparkly pink (This is my go-to base eye color, and mixes well with the red for cheeks/lips)
White Chocolate Mocha: A white frost with a hint of copper shimmer (A great mixer to tone down the red/pink, and a fun highlighter for the face/eyes)
Josephine Baker: Dark shades of cocoa mixed with iridescent green (This makes a GREAT smokey eye and can also be used wet as a liner)

To launch it properly, I’m doing a giveaway! Enter below! And then go check out the cosmetic collection or see all of the photos from my Wonder Woman/Pin-Up inspired shoot on Facebook!

Pixelated Sweatshirts

sweatshirts

It’s supposed to be summer, but instead it’s just ridiculously rainy in Seattle. The benefit is it’s the perfect kind of day to snuggle up in sweats and put some time into a book, video game, or movie marathon. I just wish I had one of these sweet sweatshirts to cozy up in.

The sweatshirts are a bit pricy at $59, but if you’re looking for a signature sweat (that’s a thing, right?) then this just may be perfect.

Find these designs and more from the Drew Wise collection at BelovedShirts.com.

Altered City Skyline Prints

Seattle Skyline

Pay homage to your favorite cities in a slightly less boring way. These skyline prints feature monsters, dinosaurs, UFOs, and more in the city of your choosing. I think they would look fantastic on their own or in a series! You can find them for $19 each at Fab.com, or for slightly more on Skyworld’s Etsy page.

Geeky Cross Stitch Templates

Looking for a fun summer project? Take up cross stitching! HalloweenCostumes.com created some geeky cross stitch patterns that you can download for free. They represent fandoms including Back to the Future, Mario, Doctor Who, Star Wars, Legend of Zelda, and Minecraft. If you get started now, these could make really cute (and relatively inexpensive) holiday gifts for your friends!
